McDonnell has been awarded the Academy Award nod for the role she as in Dances with Wolves, as Stands With A Fist. Alongside this McDonnell is known for her role as Laura Roslin (President of Battlestar Galactica) and the wife of the president in Independence Day as well as her lead role in Donnie Doom as his mom.
